Well, the school year is winding down and summer is very quickly approaching. I can say that I know for sure that I am NOT the only one who is so super stoked about it either! Summer means sun, warmth, and working (for me), and I am completely fine with all of this.
As I sit here and think back over my year 2 at SUU, I can’t help but smile at all the awesome times and wonderful memories made. College is a time for really finding who you are and finding those people who will be by your side for the rest of it. Yeah, yeah I understand how corny that sounds, but when you get here you’ll think the exact same thing.
I came to SUU to further my education and get a degree. Sure I thought about how much fun I would have, but that was never the main focus. Never in my life would I have ever imagined that my world would have turned out this amazing. It really all comes down to the things and people during your college education that teach you who you are and who you will become. It’s the people that smile at you on campus. It’s those friends that seem to live more at your place than their own. It’s the staff you work with who seriously become your second family. It’s those activities and games you go to that teach you that you are where you’re supposed to be. And when you’re surrounded by all those other people who are finding out that exact same thing, you have a crowed of unstoppable dreamers who are ready to go out and make something of themselves.
So, it’s the times like these:
When you first move into your new home for the semester and you are excited for the up coming year:
When one of your good friends gives you an RA survival guide at the beginning of the year because she knows how crazy you’re going to be:
When you sit outside on campus after a magnificent rain storm and realize just how beautiful life is, no filter needed:
When you come home on your birthday to see your room decorated because your roommate loves you:
When you meet that person at an SUU club fair who becomes your very best friend and other half (he’s the crazier half, that’s for sure haha ;D) and you fall head over heels for them:
When you have those late, late nights studying in the ELC and your friend decides to take a break and do your hair:
It’s when you finally have the chance to cook an awesome meal and prove to yourself that you aren’t going to starve your future family ;):
When you go to a game or a gymnastic meet and you’re surrounded by hundreds of other students all cheering for one team:
When you check out your first book from SUU’s amazing library and it just reiterates that you’ve chosen the right major:
It’s when you plan and hold programs for your residents because you love them and you love your job:
It’s when your friend writes sweet notes to you on your study card for class:
When you go to campus events and have the time of your life with friends:
When you go on spring break with those people who you met at school who have changed your life:
When you take random trips with your roommates and friends to pick them out a bunny for their boyfriend:
When your staff becomes some of the closest people to you and end up becoming your second family and you know you’d NEVER be the Resident Assistant you are without their constant support:
And it’s when you find friends like these who become a second part of you and who will be by your side when you say “I do” to your future person, or when you bring your new baby home, or when you have a really bad day and they take you out for ice cream… anything really:
It’s times like these will change your life. People like these people will change your life. School and your education will change your life. Make sure you’re making the right decision and choosing a school that will let you have all of these experiences. And you know what SUU is all about? Experiencing More.
